Augsburg wins first match in Bundesliga

Promoted FC Augsburg has managed to secure the first win in this year´s Bundesliga season. Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker´s penalty shot in minute 88 was enough to defeat Mainz 05 on their home turf. HSV won the second game this campaign against SC Freiburg.


After 8 matches recently promoted FC Augsburg was able to win the first game this campaign. A very late goal from Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker by penalty secured the 1-0 victory over Mainz 05. It was the fourth defeat on home ground in a row for Mainz and completed a seven-game dry period.

Last placed HSV managed to win their second game this season. Under temporally coach Frank Arnesen they won 2-1 against SC Freiburg. Just a couple minutes after coming on the green Ivo Ilicevic scored the winning goal. From Monday on new head coach Thorsten Fink will be in charge in Hamburg.

Current champion Borussia Dortmund won the top match against Werder Bremen on Friday night with 2-0. BVB´s Ivan Perisic had scored the lead and was then sent to the rail by the referee just after the break. With great team spirit and the will to fight BVB extended their lead anyway.

FC Bayern Munich crushed Hertha BSC Berlin on Saturday with 4-0. Only 13 minutes into the game the record title holder was already 3-0 in the lead.

VFB Stuttgart defeated TSG Hoffenheim with 2-0 and VFL Wolfsburg won 2-1 against 1. FC Nuremberg.

Most surprising team of the year Borussia Moenchengladbach did not manage to win against Bayer Leverkusen although they were leading and one man more on the green. The end result was a 2-2 draw.

FC Schalke 04 lost their home game against 1. FC Kaiserslautern with 1-2.

The fighting encounter of 1. FC Cologne and Hanover 96 was the last game on match day 9. Cologne managed to win 2-0, both goals scored by Lukas Podolski. Hanover however scored a legal 1-1 that the referees wrongly judged as offside.
