Bayern half-season champions, BVB drop again

15.12.2014 15:36

FC Bayern Munich beat FC Augsburg 4:0 to secure their autumn championship after matchday 15. Former rival Borussia Dortmund lose against Berlin to drop back down to the danger zone in chart. The teams behind FC Bayern mostly fail to win and VfB Stuttgart and SV Werder Bremen are still the last two. Bundesliga play will continue under the week with the last matches for 2014 to follow next weekend.

Arjen Robben scored twice against Augsburg.

The current situations for the two finalists of UEFA Champions League 2013 could not be any more different: While FC Bayern dominate the competition to secure the half-season championship with only three goals against, Dortmund are at the brink after nine losses already this season and a devastating position 16 in chart. The 0:1 loss against Berlin after beating Hoffenheim the week before once again showed that BVB´s comeback is still miles away. Next opponent under the week for Dortmund will be Wolfsburg while Bayern will face Freiburg.

VfL Wolfsburg only drew during the weekend against Paderborn giving FC Bayern nine points advantage now. None of the followers benefit however as Leverkusen and Moenchengladbach also drew in a direct encounter while Schalke lost against Cologne. Schalke will meet Paderborn, while Gladbach are going to receive Bremen on Wednesday. FC Augsburg will face Hanover 06 on Tuesday.

HSV encounter direct rivals

Hamburger SV meanwhile are meeting direct rivals in relegation struggle. HSV, currently on position 14 in chart, met SC Freiburg on 15th place during the weekend in a goalless draw and will face VfB Stuttgart, the last placed team, on Tueday. VfB drew 1:1 against FSV Mainz while SV Werder Bremen, only one place higher than Stuttgart drew 3:3 against Hanover 96. Next opponent for Mainz will be 1. FC Cologne.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim won 3:2 over Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night already in a strong match. Frankfurt equalized twice after Hoffenheim´s leading goals but Firmino scored the winner just minutes before the finals whistle. Hoffenheim will meet Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.
