Leverkusen encounter Schalke

After winning only one out of the past four games last years runner-up Leverkusen needs to win their home game against Schalke 04 in order to stay near the top of the list in German Bundesliga. Schalke has other plans however.


Leverkusen´s Ballack is looking to get his team back on track in Bundesliga.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen have only won one of the past four games. The pressure on last years runner up is rising as first placed Bayern Munich is keeping the pack in distance. Against this weeks opponent Schalke 04 Leverkusen lost just one of the last 10 encounters.

Schalke themselves have lost their first game with their new head coach Huub Stevens last week. Both teams are looking to keep track with FC Bayern by defeating the other. The game will start on Sunday at 3:30 pm.

Bayern will try to continue their impressive dominating run with the chance of staying the ninth game in a row without receiving a goal. Bayern has only lost the first game against Moenchengladbach and never lost since then. Keeper Manuel Neuer is consecutive 748 minutes in Bundesliga with a clean sheet. Opponent Hanover has not lost a home game this campaign yet.

Champion Borussia Dortmund encounter 1. FC Cologne on Saturday afternoon. BVB is on a three game winning streak. The Champions League match in Wednesday against Olympiakos Piraeus however was a bump in the road in Dortmund´s fight back to top ranks in chart.

Cologne won three out of four recently.

Second placed Borussia Moenchengladbach is facing TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday. The TSG has not scored a goal in the last three games.

Also on Saturday: 1. FC Nuremberg – VFB Stuttgart, 1. FC Kaiserslautern – SC Freiburg, Hertha BSC Berlin – Mainz 05.

On Saturday night HSV´s new head coach Thorsten Fink will have his first big test as his new club faces VFL Wolfsburg. HSV played much better over the last couple of matches and has won two out of three.

Already on Friday night Werder Bremen will encounter promoted FC Augsburg. FCA has won their first match ever in German Bundesliga last week.
