Bayern qualified, BVB under pressure

The fourth matchday of Champions League was not the best from a German point of view. FC Bayern and Bayer 04 Leverkusen started moderately on Tuesday with Bayern winning 1:0 against Pilzen, enough to qualify for the round of 16, and Bayer drawing 0:0 against Donezk. Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04 however had quite bad evenings on Wednesday as Schalke lost 0:3 to Chelsea after a heavy blunder of S04-Keeper Hildebrandt leading to the first goal of Chelsea and BVB lost the important home game against FC Arsenal with 0:1 despite being the more active and dangerous team for most of the match. Dortmund will have to win the last two matches of group stage to avoid early elimination. Alongside FC Bayern Manchester City, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also already qualified for next round.

Mesut Oezil (middle) and his FC Arsenal have made a big leap towards round of 16 by winning in Dortmund.
