Bayern win first title
The previous season was a brutal one for FC Bayern Munich. Jupp Heynckes´ team played every cup with winning chances to the very last minute but ended up being second in German championship and cup as well as in Champions League. The new season starts off much better as they have already won the Supercup.
The German Supercup is one match between the current champion and the cup winner and is the first competitive match of the new campaign. Borussia Dortmund was both last season so the second placed team in German cup had to face BVB: FC Bayern Munich.
Dortmund seemed totally sleepy over the first quarter of an hour and was regarded with two goals against. New Bayern player Mario Mandzukic scored the first one after only five minutes when Franck Riberys amazing long ball shot with the outside of his foot surpassed both of Dortmund´s Defenders Hummels and Subotic and found Mandzukic just in front of the goal who just had to finish the deal.
Only six minutes later the former Wolfsburg striker passed beautifully to Arjen Robben who´s chip landed on the post but then was hammered into the net by Thomas Mueller for the 2-0 on the score board.
Dortmund had not much to offer in respond and Bayern was obviously happy with the result so the match lost much of its class. BVB needed several substitutions and quite some time to get back into the game. After Ivan Perisic, Julian Schieber and Mario Goetze were sent to the field Dortmund´s game got better and better.
Robert Lewandowski scored the needed 1-2 in minute 75 and Dortmund kept on pressing to Manuel Neuer´s goal. Especially Goetze and Marco Reus seemed to play pretty well together but in the end it was not enough to beat FC Bayern. Munich have won the first title of the season 2012/2013 and finally beaten Dortmund in a competitive game which they were unable to do for a couple of seasons.
