Belgium turning match around
The Belgian team is among the so called secret favorites for the title of FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil. Their first match however almost saw them blunder as they had to turn things around against Algeria to win. Russia and South Korea meanwhile drew 1:1 and Brazil and Mexico opened matchday two of the cup with a goalless draw.
Some bookmakers give Belgium better chances to win the title of FIFA World Cup 2014 then Italy or England. The team of coach Mark Wilmots is filled with top level players, most of them playing in well-known European clubs. Their first match against Algeria however started pretty bumpy as Algeria scored an early lead after a penalty kick and Belgium were unable to turn things around for most of the match. Two goals in late second half however earned them their first three points.
The other match in group H was between Russia and South Korea. A mediocre first half with no goals being scored lead to a little bit better second half, but it was a terrible blunder by Russia´s keeper Akinfeev, who let a harmless long distance shot slip through, that made for the first goal. Kerzhakov equalized just minutes later and the score stayed at 1:1.
Between those two matches Brazil and Mexico met for the first game of matchday two at this championship. Mexico, being one of Brazil´s most feared opponents as they already beat them 10 times, showed a strong performance and kept the game on an eye-to-eye level. None of the two scored and it ended in a goalless draw.
