Brazil meeting Columbia after shootout thriller with Chile
Brazil´s national team is the first in the quarter finals of FIFA World Cup 2014 after a penalty shootout thriller with Chile. Chilean player Jara was the unluckiest player on the field as he scored an own goal and missed the final penalty for his team as it hit the inner side of the post. Now Brazil will meet Columbia on Friday as they beat Uruguay in a South American duel.
Brazil´s opponent Chile was in the circle of secret title aspirants and played a very strong group stage. The round of the last 16 game with Brazil saw them play on an eye-to-eye level with the host of FIFA World Cup 2014 and coming just short of the sensation. An own goal from Jara about 20 minutes into the game after a corner kick by Neymar and Alexis Sanchez equalizer a couple of minutes later marked the only goals scored within the regular time.
The penalty shootout was set to become an incredible thrilling one. Chile missed the first two but equalized as Willian and Hulk also missed for Brazil before Neymar scored the fifth one for his team and Jara went to the box to shoot the final one for Chile. The unlucky figure from first half failed to score and became the most tragic person on the entire field. Brazil meanwhile secured their ticket for the quarter finals.
Columbia is the team that will await them there on Friday as they beat Uruguay in a South American game. Young and very talented player James scored twice, with the first goal being an incredible volley shot from about 25 meters, as they won 2:0. It had been the fourth and fifth goals of James who is first now at the scoring leader board.
