Bundesliga is back and will start its 50th season this Friday (Aug 24th) with the match between Borussia Dortmund and Werder Bremen. All eyes will be on Marco Reus, Dortmund´s most expensive transfer this season. Germany´s player of the year was slowly getting better during the preseason matches and Dortmund fans hope to see him play well in Bundesliga as well.

Bayern Munich will starts their season against recently promoted Greuther Fuerth. The record breaking transfer of Javi Martinez for 40 million euros to Munich from Bilbao is still not complete but rumored to be all but clear. Bilbao seems to try everything to keep their talented defensive midfielder in Spain.

The other two promoted teams Duesseldorf and Frankfurt will play against Augsburg respectively Leverkusen. Frankfurt just blundered as they lost their first round cup match of DFB Pokal. Hoffenheim have even more baggage to bring into new Bundesliga season as they were literally crushed by fourth league team Berliner AK 07 in first round of the cup. Their first opponent in the league will be Borussia Moenchengladbach.

More games on Saturday will be the matches of SC Freiburg and Mainz 05 as well as the encounter of Hamburger SV and Nuremberg. The last two both lost their first round matches in DFB Pokal against third league teams. Saturday will show who copes with the shame better.

On Sunday afternoon VFB Stuttgart and VFL Wolfsburg will open the last day of first matchday in German Bundesliga. Both teams started last year´s campaign with 3-0-victories. Last match of the day will be the encounter of Schalke 04 and Hanover 96. Hanover is unbeaten in 18 home games straight, longer than any other team at this point.
