The Bundesliga came back from the winter break with a lot of teams hungry for scoring. Schalke and Hanover made the beginning on Friday night with astonishing nine goals as S04 won 5-4. Dortmund crushed Werder Bremen on Saturday night with 5-0 and the last game of matchday 18 between Duesseldorf and Augsburg ended 2-3. Bayern handled their rather easy task by defeating Fuerth with 2-0.

Borussia Dortmund did not leave the slightest doubt who was in charge in Bremen crushing Werder with 5-0.

The first matchday of 2013 saw a lot of teams scoring often. The first match on Friday night was rather intense to watch as the encounter of Schalke 04 and Hanover 96 ended 4-5. Schalke was 2-0 in the lead but Hanover only needed four minutes to equalize the score. The draw did not last long however as it took S04 only eight minutes to set the score board to the original two-goal-lead. 96 got one back instantly but two minutes before the final whistle Schalke scored once again. Mame Diouf´s late goal in minute 92 despite being rather seeable had no real impact to the game anymore.

Schalke´s area rival Dortmund was goal-hungry as well as the Black and Yellows put a devastating blow to Werder Bremen on late Saturday finishing off coach Thomas Schaaf´s team with 5-0. BVB´s point deficit towards FC Bayern stayed on twelve points as FCB won their match against Greuther Fuerth with 2-0 rather easily.

More results from Saturday were the 3-1 from Bayer 04 Leverkusen against Eintracht Frankfurt, the goalless draws between TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Borussia Moenchengladbach as well as Mainz 05 and SC Freiburg and the 2-0 victory of VFL Wolfsburg over VFB Stuttgart.

HSV drawing, Augsburg defeating Duesseldorf

Hamburger SV and 1. FC Nuremberg kicked of the Sunday matches at 3.30 pm. The game stayed a little below average especially in first half as HSV showed a weak performance. The second half was better and saw the two only goals of the match leaving the score board at 1-1.

The second match on Sunday was more intense and saw FC Augsburg being 3-0 in the lead against Fortuna Duesseldorf after two major blunders of Duesseldorf keeper Giefer. Fortuna got two back but were unable in the end to prevent the loss of the game.
