BVB´s Bundesliga-crisis deepens
Borussia Dortmund seem to have unlearned how to play Bundesliga. While dominating competition in Champions League BVB lose match after match in league play and sit on position 15 at the moment. FC Bayern meanwhile only drew 0:0 against strong playing Gladbach while Leverkusen beat Schalke 1:0 in Saturday´s headliner. HSV lost 0:3 against Berlin but the craziest match of the young season was the 5:4-victory of Stuttgart in Frankfurt.
The two faces of Borussia Dortmund: Under the week they crushed Galatasaray Istanbul 4:0 in Turkey to defend their lead in the UEFA Champions League group with nine points after three matches and a goal difference of 9:0. Against Hannover 96 in Bundesliga they lost 0:1 on Saturday. The fourth consecutive loss, the sixth overall, only seven points after nine matches mean position 15 in chart.
FC Bayern Munich meanwhile only drew 0:0 against Borussia Moenchengladbach in what was a well-earned draw for both. Gladbach even had a bit more of the match during second half. The craziest game of the whole season however took place in Frankfurt: Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart went head to head in a very intense match. First Frankfurt was in the lead before VfB turned things around to a 3:1. Then Eintracht came back to turn the match around again to a 4:3 within just eight minutes. But Stuttgart were not done yet as they – once again – turned the match around and won 5:4.
Dutt fired
After the 0:1-loss on Friday Werder Bremen´s coach Robin Dutt was fired on Saturday already. Last place and no win in nine matches was not enough for the club management and so he was replaced with U23-coach Skripnik. A member of the coaching team will also be Torsten Frings. It was the third dismissal of a coach this season already after Slomka in Hamburg and Keller in Schalke.
Saturday´s headliner saw Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Schalke encounter each other. But despite the big names the match was well below average as only a very strong free-kick of Hakan Calhanoglu found the way in the net to secure the 1:0 victory for Bayer.
Hamburger SV meanwhile had a serious drop in performance towards their last matches as they played pretty poorly against Hertha BSC Berlin and therefor lost 0:3. More matches on Saturday saw FC Augsburg beating SC Freiburg 2:0 and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim winning 1:0 against SC Paderborn.
