Costa Rica surprisingly through to next round

Group D was widely considered to be one of the toughest groups of the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil with England, Italy, Uruguay and Costa Rica. Now surprisingly Costa Rica managed to secure next round after two victories over Uruguay and Italy. The English team is already kicked out and Italy and Uruguay will go head-to-head on the last matchday. Meanwhile France crushed Switzerland make a big leap towards next round while Ecuador´s 2:1 victory over Honduras kept their chances alive.

After the 1:0 victory of Costa Rica over Italy England´s fate is sealed. The motherland of football is coming home, but way earlier than the crowd at home might have expected. England´s failure is Costa Rica joy as the South American Country secured their ticket for next round in FIFA World Cup 2014 and left the strong group of Italy, England and Uruguay behind them. Italy and Uruguay will go head-to-head on the last matchday to decide who will join Costa Rica.

France meanwhile might have risen up to the elite circle of favorites for the title. After a 3:0 against Honduras they crushed Switzerland 5:2 and made a giant leap towards next round. Switzerland still can hope heading into the last match with Honduras while Ecuador, that beat Honduras 2:1 in the night match and sealed their elimination, will face France. Ecuador´s goal difference is better than the one of Switzerland which leads to Switzerland having to win big against Honduras in the last match or to hope that neighbor France will help them.
