Dortmund, Bayern leading
Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich lead the pack in Bundesliga after matchday two followed by Bayer 04 Leverkusen. All three teams have six points out of two matches as do Bremen and Mainz. Hamburger SV and Schalke 04 on the other hand have been each crushed by their opponents with 1-5 and 0-4.
After two matchdays in German Bundesliga the two favorite clubs Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich lead the pack for the moment. But both had their problems with their second victories early in the season. On Saturday afternoon FC Bayern beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 with Eintracht having some good opportunities and one legal goal being scored by Alexander Meier but the referee falsely accused him off have been standing offside. Also a foul in the last minute by Boateng might have been enough for a penalty so the victory of FCB was a little bit on the lucky side.
Borussia Dortmund also lacked of supremacy while beating recently promoted Eintracht Braunschweig on late Sunday. For most of the match Braunschweig managed to secure the goalless draw but as Jonas Hofmann came on the pitch he scored the 1-0 and was fouled in the box moments later with Reus scoring the 2-0 by penalty. Kevin Kratz headed the ball over the line in minute 89 for his teams to put some tension in the last minutes of the match but in the end Dortmund were on top of the chart after matchday one.
Leverkusen struggle for victory
Bayer 04 Leverkusen also had their problems with VFB Stuttgart and struggled their way to the 1-0 win on home grounds with former Leverkusen player Daniel Schwab hitting the ball in the wrong net for Bayer to secure the victory. Werder Bremen and FSV Mainz 05 also have six points out of two matches already with Bremen beating FC Augsburg with 1-0 and Mainz beating SC Freiburg in what was a very weak match of both for most of the 90 minutes with 2-1.
Hamburger SV and FC Schalke 04 had quite depressing work days as both got crushed by their opponents. HSV played an okay first half in the home game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with the score board at 1-1- for half time. In second half TSG scored an early goal resulting in HSV loosing their grip on the game and the match ending 1-5 after a devastating second half performance of Hamburg. Schalke´s story was not much different as the score for half time was 0-0 in Wolfsburg but VFL scoring four goals in second half to crush S04. On top Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar injured in the process and will miss several weeks of play.
Gladbach with strong first home game
Borussia Moenchengladbach played a very good first match on home territory on late Saturday by defeating Hanover 96 well earned with 3-0. Max Kruse had scored the lead and was one of the best players on the pitch in his first match in Gladbach.
1. FC Nuremberg and Hertha BSC Berlin encountered on Sunday afternoon. Nuremberg had been in the lead but recently promoted Berlin turned things around before Hiroshi Kiyotake equalized the score just minutes before the end with a direct free kick for 2-2.
