Dortmund defends lead, Gladbach crushes Schalke

Borussia Dortmund defended their leading position in chart by defeating Bayer 04 Leverkusen with 1-0. Bayern also won and stays on place 2, two points shy of BVB. Gladbach was able to surpass Schalke as they crushed S04 with 3-0. It took them only the first 30 minutes to score the three goals.

Borussia Dortmund had a tough task to master on matchday 21 in German Bundesliga. Bayer 04 Leverkusen visited the Signal-Iduna-Park. The game was not the anticipated spectacle as Dortmund did not play their A-Game. One goal of Shinji Kagawa however was enough to secure the 1-0-win for BVB.

With this performance Dortmund stays on top of the chart two points better than FC Bayern Munich on position two. FCB defeated Kaiserslautern last weekend with 2-0 to stay in touch with BVB. Mario Gomez and Thomas Mueller scored for Germany´s record title holder.

Borussia Moenchengladbach played an astonishing match against Schalke 04, crushing S04 with 3-0. Only two minutes into the game Marco Reus scored the early lead. Mike Hanke and Juan Arrango had completed the result by minute 32.

Gladbach played superior football and Schalke was hopelessly overstrained. Borussia is now on position 3 in chart, surpassing Schalke.

The games of Mainz 05 and Hanover 96 as well as Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim ended in 1-1-draws. Hoffenheim had recently fired former coach Holger Stanislawski and it was the first match of new head Markus Babbel.

On Friday night Wolfsburg had to face Freiburg. The guests played the better ball and were superior most of the time. Even Wolfsburg´s Coach Magath admitted that after the match. Football is not always a fair game however and Wolfsburg won 3-2.

VFB Stuttgart busted out of the cup on Wednesday against Bayern. Against Hertha BSC Berlin they were able to gain new confidence as they crushed Berlin with 5-0. Berlin´s coach Michael Skibbe was fired on Sunday after five defeats in a row.

On Sunday the match of Augsburg and Nuremberg ended in a goalless draw. The night game was Cologne against HSV. Hamburg was able to score the winning goal in last minute in person of Paolo Guerrero. HSV is now on position 10 in chart.
