Dortmund demolish Gladbach, HSV win again, Frankfurt continuing strong
BVB won the match of the two Borussias on late Saturday with an impressive 5-0 against Gladbach. Former Gladbach player Marco Reus was the man of the match. HSV won on the club´s 125th anniversary with 1-0 against Hanover and Frankfurt continue to play strong winning once more, this time versus Freiburg. FC Bayern defeated Werder Bremen with 2-0.
Borussia Dortmund demolished the other Borussia from Moenchengladbach with 5-0. Former Gladbach player Marco Reus (35th/70th minute) was the man of the match scoring the 1-0 and the 3-0 for his new team.
The other three goals were scored by Neven Subotic (40th), Ilkay Guendogan (79th) and Kuba (85th) who also had a very strong day assisting two of the five goals. Dortmund are now back on third place seven points shy of FC Bayern Munich. Gladbach´s season is below average with six points so far.
Hamburger SV had its 125th anniversary this weekend and celebrated it by winning 1-0 against Hanover 96. The win was pretty lucky however as Hanover had several good opportunities and controlled most of the match, especially in second half. Rudnevs (20th) goal and Rene Adler with a very good day, keeping his box clean despite a bunch of good chances for Hanover. HSV is definitely gaining momentum after the miserable start to this campaign now winning two out of the last three.
Eintracht Frankfurt continue to impress as the promoted team stays unbeaten in the sixth match winning the fifth. SC Freiburg were in the lead on Sunday afternoon but Alex Meier (68th/73th) turned things around for his team that has 16 points now being only two shy of FC Bayern Munich.
The superior playing Bayern of the last couple of weeks also won this matchday but played far less superb against Werder Bremen. Thomas Schaaf´s team was a worthy opponent for about 80 minutes and FCB did not manage to score until Luiz Gustavo (81th) shot the 1-0 with a beautiful scoop. Mandzukic scored the 2-0 just two minutes later after a fast and ice cold counter attack.
TSG Hoffenheim did not achieve more than a goalless draw against FC Augsburg on home turf. The match was overshadowed by the horrible car accident of Hoffenheim´s Boris Vukcevic who is in induced coma and critical condition since Friday.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen had no real trouble with Greuther Fuerth winning 2-0 thanks to two goals of Sidney Sam (51th/62th). VFB Stuttgart managed to secure the first win this season against 1. FC Nuremberg with 2-0 and Mainz got pretty lucky in the match versus Wolfsburg on late Sunday as VFL was the much better team but Mainz scored twice out of the blue to win the match 2-0.
Fortuna Duesseldorf played against Schalke 04 on Friday night. The recently promoted team was two behind heading into the break after Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (13th) scored the first goal against for Duesseldorf this campaign and Matip (20th) increased the lead seven minutes later. A lot of heart and willpower got Fortuna back into the game and Dani Schahin scored twice to secure the draw for his squad. Duesseldorf stay unbeaten and have ten points so far.
