Dortmund looking to defend 7-point-lead
Borussia Dortmund want to take the next big step towards defending the championship on Saturday night. BVB will face FC Augsburg on their home grounds and is heading into matchday 25 with a 7-point-lead. FC Bayern will receive TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Allianz-Arena.
Borussia Dortmund is leading the pack in German Bundesliga by seven points with ten games to go. This weekend promoted FC Augsburg will be the opponent of Dortmund. BVB is unbeaten in 18 games straight and highly motivated to take the next step towards defending the championship.
FC Bayern Munich on the other hand is under big pressure as they are in danger of losing track of Dortmund. Before the first leg against Hoffenheim they have been eight points better than BVB, now they are seven points behind them. They really need to win in Allianz-Arena on Saturday.
Third placed Borussia Moenchengladbach could increase the stress from the other side by defeating SC Freiburg at the same time.
VFL Wolfsburg will receive Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The “Werkself” is on a little role winning three matches in a row including FCB last week. Wolfsburg on the other hand have not won in three games.
More games on Saturday will be the encounter of Mainz 05 and 1. FC Nuremberg and the match of 1. FC Cologne and Hertha BSC Berlin. Already on Friday night VFB Stuttgart will encounter 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
The Sunday matches sound promising as Werder Bremen and Hanover 96 will fight out who is in charge in northern Germany at the moment. Hanover has slowly been coming closer and is only one point shy of Bremen now.
The last match of the weekend will be the matchup of Schalke 04 and Hamburger SV. Both teams are more or less forced to do amends to their supporters as they lost their matches last week. S04 was beaten by SC Freiburg with 1-2 while HSV was crushed and embarrassed by VFB Stuttgart as they won 4-0.
