Borussia Dortmund will have the chance to regain the lead in German Bundesliga – at least for a couple of hours – as their match with VfB Stuttgart will take place on Friday night already. FC Bayern Munich and Bayer 04 Leverkusen will meet their opponents on Saturday afternoon. Bayern will meet Hoffenheim with the chance to equal a 30-year old record of HSV by being unbeaten in 36 league games straight. Leverkusen will play in Braunschweig.

The matches between BVB and Stuttgart usually harbor a lot of tension. Pictured is the match last season.

The top three teams in German Bundesliga have been dominating the competition for the last ten matchday. FC Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer 04 Leverkusen lead the pack with ten and nine points. BVB will have the chance to regain the lead on matchday 14 – at least for a couple of hours – as their match with VfB Stuttgart will be on Friday night already.

Dortmund have only drew all past four games in Signal-Iduna-Park against Stuttgart. No other team managed to stay unbeaten longer in Dortmund at the moment. Borussia coach Juergen Klopp extended his contract under the week for another two years to 2018 with the club more than doubling his payment. The extension might be a performance enhancing sign for his players.

FC Bayern Munich and Bayer 04 Leverkusen will follow on Saturday. In Sinsheim against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Bayern will have the opportunity to equal a 30-year old record of Hamburger SV by staying unbeaten for the 36th game straight. Bayer 04 Leverkusen will play against Eintracht Braunschweig, the last team in chart with only four points to their name.

Hertha and Schalke on Saturday

Hertha BSC Berlin are on fifth position at the moment. One point but two places behind them are FC Schalke 04. Both teams lost their matches last week against FC Bayern and Dortmund and will go head to head this matchday. Especially the Revierderby loss for Schalke is always a painful one and might wing them to a better performance this week.

The other matches on Saturday will see 1. FC Nuremberg and SC Freiburg go at it, Eintracht Frankfurt and VfL Wolfsburg fighting for the points in the night match and Hamburger SV clashing with Borussia Moenchengladbach. After the almost donated win last week against Freiburg HSV will be looking to verify their current form against a stronger opponent. The Sunday matches between FC Augsburg and 1. FSV Mainz 05 as well as between SV Werder Bremen and Hannover 96 will round up the football weekend.
