Dortmund winning Revierderby
Borussia Dortmund have won the prestigious „Revierderby“ against arch rival FC Schalke 04 well-earned with 3:1. The strong performance was overshadowed however by a bunch of BVB supporters fooling around with illegal fireworks almost resulting in the match being cancelled. Bayern and Leverkusen also won their matches which lead to the top three increasing the gap in chart between them and the pack further more. Freiburg Keeper Oliver Baumann might have wished he would not have left the house on Sunday as his catastrophic blunders led to three goals for HSV.
Borussia Dortmund have gained bragging rights in the “Revier” as the area around Dortmund and Schalke is called in German. The prestigious Revierderby is always one of the most anticipated matches of the season. After two defeats last season for BVB against their arch rival it was revenge time on Saturday. Dortmund dominated most of the match and earned the 3:1-victory with strong and fast attacking play. Keeper Weidenfeller safed a penalty from Kevin-Prince Boateng about 30 minutes in – the only moment where the match could have gone a different path.
The Derby was overshadowed however with the events happening before the match. A bunch of disturbers fooled around with firework and even intentionally fired pyrotechnics into Schalke supporters. “I felt ashamed in that moment”, BVB coach Juergen Klopp said in an interview later. The match started with a five minute delay.
Bayern, Leverkusen also winning
FC Bayern Munich won their match with Hertha BSC Berlin with 3:2 despite having some trouble in the beginning. Only moments in Ramos scored the surprising lead for Berlin. FCB got back on track with Mandzukic turning things around scoring twice and Goetze´s header even increasing the lead before Ben-Hatira got one back for his team. Bayer Leverkusen also won their match with FC Augsburg 2:1 enabling the top three to increasing their lead towards the pack furthermore.
More games on Saturday saw TSG 1899 Hoffenheim winning 4-1 in Hanover where some questionable decision of the referee lead to a lot of anger within the Hanover officials even resulting in conspiracy theories the DFB would be trying to recompense Hoffenheim for the ghost goal last week, but all decision of the referee despite the really questionable Yellow-Red Card for Diouff only 12 minutes in. Mainz 05 beat Eintracht Braunschweig with 2:0 and VfL Wolfsburg won 3:0 against Werder Bremen in the night match.
Baumann catching a strange day
Sunday match with SC Freiburg receiving Hamburger SV saw SCF keeper Oliver Baumann possibly having the worst day of his career. The goalie made three major blunders during the game all resulting in HSV goals and losing the match with 0:3. First he underestimated a long ball in slapstick manner, slipped and HSV forward Beister only had to put the ball in an empty goal. Even more astonishing the second goal was almost an exact copy of the first one with Lasogga scoring this time. The 3:0 by van der Vaart also was a clear mistake by Baumann as he let the ball bounce after a mediocre attempt by Beister.
New fourth placed team in chart after matchday ten is Borussia Moenchengladbach after beating Eintracht Frankfurt in the second match on Sunday with 4:1. VfB Stuttgart and 1. FC Nuremberg met already on Friday night with the match ending 1:1.
