Eighth German championship for Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund have successfully defended their title in German Bundesliga. Thanks to a 2-0-victory over Gladbach BVB managed to become champion for the eighth time in history. Kaiserslautern on the other hand will play in second German Bundesliga next campaign although they defeated Berlin.
Borussia Dortmund is German champion 2011/2012. Juergen Klopp´s team successfully defend their title by defeating Borussia Moenchengladbach with 2-0. With 75 points the gap between them and FC Bayern Munich is too big to be vanished with two games to go. It was the 26th league game in a row without being defeated for Dortmund.
Ivan Perisic and Shinji Kagawa scored the needed goals in order to win the second to last home game of the season. After the match all players celebrated their second consecutive and eighth title of the club´s history on the field with five-liter beer-cups. Coach Klopp called the performance of his team this campaign “insane”.
FC Bayern Munich turned the match in Bremen around on Saturday afternoon. Bremen´s Naldo had scored the lead for Werder but equalized his goal with an own goal and Franck Ribery secured the victory for FCB in last minute.
VFB Stuttgart´s draw against 1. FC Cologne was enough to secure that they will play in Europa-League next season and Bayern 04 Leverkusen 1-0-victory over Hoffenheim was a giant leap towards the same goal for Sami Hyypiä´s team. With a six-point-gap between them and Bremen (eighth) there is only a very small chance left for Werder.
Relegation struggle is no longer an issue for Mainz, Freiburg and Nuremberg. Freiburg chopped the points with Hanover in a goalless draw, same did Mainz and Wolfsburg and Nuremberg´s match with Hamburger SV ended with the score board showing 1-1.
Augsburg and Schalke ended up 1-1, too and FCA and HSV are leading Cologne by four respectively five points now. The gap should be enough to stay up with two games to go.
Schalke´s lead towards Gladbach is two points at the moment, but both teams are all but save to play Champions League next season, or at least qualification.
