Encounter of the two Borussias, North Derby
On matchday 23 German Bundesliga is waiting with the match of the two Borussias, Dortmund and Gladbach, on Sunday afternoon. The Saturday will have the North Derby between Hanover and Hamburg as well as the seemingly unbeatable FC Bayern receiving Werder Bremen.
Dortmund´s superstar Marco Reus scored three times last week against Frankfurt and is visiting his former club Gladbach this weekend.
One of the most anticipated games on matchday 23 will be the encounter of the two Borussias. Borussia Dortmund will be the guest of Borussia Moenchengladbach on Sunday afternoon. It will be the return of BVB Superstar Marco Reus to his old working place. Gladbach were kicked out of Europa League in round of last 32 on Thursday.
One day earlier another North Derby will take place when Hanover 96 receives Hamburger SV in AWD Arena. HSV are on a little winning streak crawling up in chart while Hanover will have to cope with the same destiny as Gladbach as they have been kicked out of Europa League as well on Thursday.
Bayern receiving Bremen
Werder Bremen might have the most unthankful task this weekend as they will have to face FC Bayern Munich in Allianz Arena. FCB have been running hot over the last weeks winning almost every game leading the pack by 15 points and having gained even more confidence in Champions League by defeating FC Arsenal in London with 3-1 in the round of last 16.
Eintracht Frankfurt will meet SC Freiburg on Friday already and it will be the encounter of position four and five in chart. Freiburg could equalize when it comes to points by winning but Frankfurt really need to win to stay in touch with Dortmund and Leverkusen.
Only Stuttgart still in Europa League
Bayer will face Greuther Fuerth in matchday 23´s last match on Sunday night. The Factory Squad were also kicked out of Europa League on Thursday and might have the right opponent when it comes to regaining some confidence. Fuerth are in deep trouble at the moment sitting ugly on position 18 and firing their coach Mike Bueskens under the week.
VFB Stuttgart the only of four teams that started in Europa League still to be in the competition will have to play against 1. FC Nuremberg on Saturday. VFB had been playing a rather unsuccessful campaign so far with 28 points on position 12 in the middle of no-man´s-land.
More games this weekend will be the match of FC Augsburg and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Mainz 05´s encounter with VFL Wolfsburg and the Saturday night match between FC Schalke 04 and Fortuna Duesseldorf.
