On Saturday night German football season will see it´s first official cup to fight for: Dortmund and Bayern will clash for the Supercup. The match between seasons champion and national cup winner is usually considered to be not that important but with Bayern and Dortmund to go head-to-head there is no friendly game to expect.

It will be the first encounter of Guardiola (left) and Klopp.

German football rise to the top of Europe last season with Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich clashing in the final of UEFA Champions League for Europe´s football crown. Munich won the title alongside Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal. Now it will be the first encounter of the two since May 25 with the first official title of German football season 2012/2013 on the line. The Supercup is the match between Bundesliga champion and DFB Pokal winner. With both being FC Bayern, as Dortmund were in the year before, it will be vice-champion of Bundesliga against cup winner.

The cup is widely considered to be not that important despite it´s official character as Bayern won it last year too but everybody was only taking about the triple instead of the “quadruple”. Anyhow with the two big German rivals Dortmund and Bayern going head-to-head on Saturday night there is no such thing as a friendly game. When those two clash it will always be about prestige and bragging rights.
