First winter transfers done

The year 2014 has only just begun but several transfer news have already been reported, the biggest of all being one that will take place in summer. BVB forward Robert Lewandowski will play for FC Bayern Munich beginning in July. Dortmund declined an offer from FCB rumored to be around 25 Million Euros last summer and will have to let Lewandowski transfer for free now as his contract runs out. More interesting news from the winter break are listed below.

Hanover 96 have fired coach Mirko Slomka during the holidays. After eight losses on foreign grounds in first leg of the season long-time head coach Slomka had to leave and was followed by German-Turkish Tayfun Korkut who was supported by his new assistant coach Julen Masach from Spain with whom he had already worked with before.

FC Schalke 04 meanwhile have secured that FC Bayern Munich defensive specialist Jan Kirchhoff will play for them the next one-and-a-half years on a loan basis. VfL Wolfsburg´s much sought after 17-year-old talent Julian Brandt has joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Former Nuremberg player Alexander Esswein will play for FC Augsburg from now on and Eintracht Frankfurt´s squad was completed by Alexander Madlung who had been without a contract for half a year.
