Just a couple of days before Christmas eve matchday 17 will be the last football games this year in German Bundesliga. Only eight matches will take place as FC Bayern Munich are freed from play due to their obligations in playing the FIFA Club World Cup in Egypt. Their match with VfB Stuttgart was scheduled for the end of January.
Some of the following teams in chart meanwhile will have to face each other as Borussia Dortmund on third place will encounter Hertha BSC Berlin on position seven. BVB have had quite some problems in Bundesliga as they only won one out of the last five while Berlin won two in a row for the first time this season lately. The only game on Sunday will see Borussia Moenchengladbach on position four will go at it with VfL Wolfsburg on fifth place.
Leverkusen in Bremen
Bayer 04 Leverkusen meanwhile will try to compensate their supporters for last week´s loss against Frankfurt by defeating Bremen this week. Werder have not won since matchday eleven and lost the last two encounters against Bayern and Berlin. On Friday night already Eintracht Frankfurt will receive FC Augsburg. The Bavarian team was recently on the uptick winning three out of the last four with one draw.
More games on Saturday afternoon will see SC Freiburg and Hanover 96, FSV Mainz 05 and Hamburger SV as well as Eintracht Braunschweig and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim go head to head for three points. During the night match FC Schalke 04 will meet 1. FC Nuremberg, the only team in Bundesliga yet to win a match this season.
