Frankfurt continue to impress, BVB struggle in Nuremberg
Recently promoted Eintracht Frankfurt are right behind leading Bayern in German Bundesliga after matchday two. After beating Hoffenheim with 4-0 Frankfurt have six points and six to one goals. Munich literally crushed Stuttgart with 6-1 giving them the better goal difference. BVB struggled against Nuremberg only drawing.
Eintracht Frankfurt is having a very good start into this campaign. On matchday two Frankfurt crushed TSG Hoffenheim with 4-0. Alexander Meier scored twice in the process. This enables them to be on position two in chart with six points as well as Bayern Munich.
FCB are only in front because they gave VFB Stuttgart a devastating defeat on late Sunday with 6-1. What started as a good Bundesliga match with both sides playing well and Stuttgart even scoring the lead 25 minutes into the game by Harnik quickly after that turned into a demonstration of superior skills from Bayern Munich.
Mueller (32th) and Kroos (33th) only needed 72 second to turn things around and Luiz Gustavo´s 30 meter long shot (43th) put the score board to 3-1 just before the break. In second half Mandzukic (47), again Mueller (49) and Schweinsteiger (51) finished off Stuttgart. 40 million euros man Martinez was sent on to the field on his 24th birthday in minute 77 giving a quick impression of his skills with a 40 meter long beautiful pass to Mueller.
Current champion Borussia Dortmund struggled in Nuremberg and only drew against a strong playing “Klub”. Thomas Pekhart (31th) had scored the lead for Nuremberg and Dortmund´s Kuba (40th) equalized just before the end of the first half. Dortmund was unable to score the winning goal, so was Nuremberg. Dortmund is still unbeaten now in 30 league games straight and chasing Hamburger SV´s all time record of 36 matches in 1982/83.
Today´s HSV can only dream of such good old times as their season just starts where the horrible last one ended. In DFB Pokal they were kicked out in first round already and in Bundesliga it is now two defeats in two games after losing to Werder Bremen on Saturday. Only thanks to HSV goalie Rene Adler the loss was only 0-2 as he saved one penalty and several very good opportunities of Werder.
FC Schalke 04 and Bayer 04 Leverkusen both won their matches against FC Augsburg and SC Freiburg with 3-1 respectively 2-0. The Saturday night match between Borussia Moenchengladbach and Fortuna Duesseldorf was highly anticipated as the “Rhein-Derby” but failed to match the expectations as it ended in a goalless draw.
Promoted Greuther Fuerth managed to secure the first three points ever in their very short Bundesliga history by defeating Mainz 05 with 1-0 on Friday night already. Felix Klaus scored the winning goal in minute 67.
On Sunday Hanover 96 and Wolfsburg encountered in another “Northderby”. Hanover simply overran Felix Magath´s team on VFL´s home turf scoring four goals in the process. The goal scorers for Hanover 96´s 4-0 victory were Haggui (10th), twice Arthur Sobiech (26th/56th) and Leon Andreasen (52th).
