German championship all but over

Borussia Dortmund have pretty good odds to defend their title after defeating Schalke 04 in “Revierderby” with 2-1. FC Bayern only chopped the points against Mainz and BV´B´s lead is eight points with three games to go. Last placed Kaiserslautern on the other hand is all but relegated with a nine-point-gap between them and position 16.


BVB is all but champion.

Dortmund have most certainly defended their title in German Bundesliga. BVB defeated Schalke in prestigious “Revierderby” with 2-1 while FC Bayern only managed to end the game against Mainz 05 in a goalless draw. Lukas Piszczek and Sebastian Kehl scored for Dortmund after Jefferson Farfan had scored the early lead for S04.

BVB now have an eight-point-lead towards FC Bayern with three games to go. With a victory against Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday they would secure the defending of their title early.

FC Bayern clearly focused on their Champions-League-match against Real Madrid on Tuesday as coach Jupp Heynckes changed his team in several key positions playing with a couple of reservists.

Hamburger SV and FC Augsburg both made big steps towards avoiding relegation as they won their matches against Hanover 96 and Wolfsburg respectively. HSV beat 96 with 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Son Heung Min while Augsburg was victorious in Wolfsburg because of Sebastian Langkamp´s winning goal in minute 88 leaving the score board 2-1 for FCA.

1. FC Kaiserslautern is all but relegated as they lost their match against 1. FC Nuremberg with 2-0. The gap between FCK and rescuing position 16 in chart is nine points now. For Nuremberg on the other hand relegation struggle seems over with 35 points.

Hertha BSC Berlin almost defeated Leverkusen although they were on men less for the last 25 minutes. In an astonishing match Leverkusen was 2-0 in the lead and after Pierre-Michel Lasogga´s 2-1 in minute 63 a red card for Berlin´s Levan Kobiashvilli including a penalty kick for Leverkusen in minute 66 seemed to end Hertha´s hopes. But keeper Thomas Kraft saved the penalty and Tunay Torun turned things around for Berlin with two goals. Leverkusen´s Stefan Kießling finally equalized the score to 3-3.

VFB Stuttgart will most certainly play in Europa-League next season as they defeated Werder Bremen with 4-1 on Friday night leaving them with 49 points in comfortable position in chart – fifth place with a seven-point-lead towards place eight.

Borussia Moenchengladbach defeated 1. FC Cologne on Sunday easily with 3-0 closing the gap between them and Schalke 04. Gladbach is only one point behind S04 and place three in chart which would enable them for direct qualification of Champions League.

Cologne on the other hand are four points behind Augsburg and position 15 and Berlin is only one point behind them. The match between SC Freiburg and Hoffenheim ended in a goalless draw on Sunday.
