The two German teams in UEFA Champions League semi-finals made a huge step towards the final in May 25 in Wembley. FC Bayern showed a superior performance to beat FC Barcelona with 4-0 on Tuesday night. Borussia Dortmund´s night on Wednesday was quite strong also. Juergen Klopp´s squad beat Real Madrid with 4-1 to get one step closer to a German final.

Robert Lewandowksi was the man of the match scoring four times in Dortmund.

German football fans had really good nights in UEFA Champions League on Tuesday and Wednesday. First FC Bayern Munich demolished FC Barcelona, widely considered to be the best team in the world at the moment. Bayern dominated the game despite having only 32 percent ball possession rate during the 90 minutes. Thomas Mueller was the man of the match scoring twice and assisting one goal. He scored the first and the last goal of the game getting his team in the lead in minute 25 assisted by Dante.

In second half Mario Gomez (49th minute) increased the lead despite standing in offside as he did so. The 3-0 from Arjen Robben (73th) also seemed illegal. Thomas Mueller had checked Jordi Alba on his way to attack Robben, who afterwards only had to put the ball into the net with just the keeper in front of him. The 4-0 in minute 82 once again was scored by Thomas Mueller.

With Bayern beating Barca 4-0 at home the team of Jupp Heynckes´ is almost safe for final in Wembley on May 25. Dortmund also did their part to increase the likelihood of facing Bayern in a German final in London.

Dortmund destroying Real

The match between Borussia Dortmund was ill-omened as German press found out about BVB super talent Mario Goetze transferring in summer to FC Bayern Munich for 37 million euro one day before the game in Dortmund started. The 20-year-old ball artist stood in the focus of attention but made a brilliant match anyway. His long ball found Robert Lewandowski´s foot eight minutes into the game for the early lead.

Dortmund controlled the game against harmless Madrid players but failed to increase the lead and a dreadful mistake of Mats Hummels just before the break lead to an unearned equalizer by Christiano Ronaldo (42th). Dortmund supporters were worried the game might turn around but the team was about to prove them wrong.

Lewandowski scoring hattrick

After halftime Robert Lewandowski played one of the best matches of his career scoring three more goals. First a misdirected kick of Marco Reus found his way to Lewandowski (50th) who only had to kick the ball in from short distance. In minute 55 it was Schmelzer´s failed attempts that the Polish striker handled elegantly before finishing forcefully. Minute 67 saw BVB´s Reus being checked hardly by Real´s Xabi Alonso and once again Lewandowski was there to convert the penalty kick for an astonishing 4-1 final result.

The striker who is rumored to leave the club in summer, likely heading Munich as well, is the first player in 20 years of Champions League who scored four times in a semi-final. Both Dortmund and Bayern have the best chances now to seal the deal and play out this year´s trophy in UEFA Champions League in a German final in London.
