Germany beat Nederland, Ireland out
The German national team is the first team in this year´s EC to gain six points out of two matches. Thanks to two goals of Mario Gomez they beat Nederland with 2-1 on Wednesday. Nederland have zero points so far but still have chances to proceed to the quarterfinals. Ireland´s team is the first one to be out of the competition as they were crushed by Spain with 4-0.
Ireland´s team will have to head home on Monday.
Germany have gained one step towards the quarterfinals. By beating Nederland with 2-1 on Wednesday they managed to gain six points out of two games and are only one point away of winning group B. Mario Gomez scored twice for Germany.
Nederland on the other hand have to hope that Germany will beat Denmark on Sunday and have to defeat Portugal with more than one goal difference. Portugal beat Denmark which resulted in both teams having three points while Nederland have zero so far.
On Tuesday Greece was beaten by Czech Republic with 2-1 and Russia drew 1-1 against Poland. Russia lead Group A heading into last matchday on Saturday having four points. Czech Republic have three while Poland have two points and Greece have one.
In Group C the first team to be out of the competition is Ireland. Spain´s national team was far too big for the Irish and crushed them with 4-0. Italy and Croatia drew with 1-1 leaving Croatia with four points same as Spain and Italy with two points.
Spain and Croatia will fight for the win in Group C on Monday while Ireland is looking to make a good last game against Italy in this year´s European Championship in Poland and Ukraine.
Tonight Ukraine will play against France before Sweden will face England. This is going to be the last matchday with games starting at 6 pm. From here on every match is going to start at 8.45 pm.
