Germany have beat France 1:0 and will be among the four best teams of the World Cup for the fourth consecutive time. Their victory was secured by a strong Mats Hummels who scored the early goal with a header about 15 minutes in and then stabilized the defense for 90 minutes as he returned from his one match pause after an influenza.
The fourth participation at the semi-finals in a row at a World Cup is a new record as they head into next match with the record title holder and host of the tournament. Brazil defeated Columbia in a very intense match with 2:1 but paid a high price as superstar Neymar was injured so badly he will miss the rest of the cup. Captain Thiago Silva will also miss the next match as he saw his second yellow card.
The other semi-final will take place between the Netherlands and Argentina as Brazil´s neighbor beat Belgium 1:0 to make it to the next round. The Oranje on the other hand had a lot of problems with Costa Rica and failed to score for 120 minutes. The penalty shootout had to decide about the winner and Coach Louis van Gaal put his second keeper Krul on the field in minute 120. Krul then saved two shots and secured the survival of his team. The matches will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday July 8 and 9 at 10 pm.
