Germany have won the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil. The final with Argentina saw both teams compete on an eye-to-eye level which lead to nobody scoring in normal time. The second half of extra time then saw Mario Goetze beautifully scoring the winning goal after Andre Schuerrle´s delivery. Both had been sent on the field during the game by Loew who secured his first title as coach of Germany.
Germany had more of the game when it came to ball possession and successful passes but failed to create enough opportunities to score against strongly defending Argentinians that had several chances to score the lead. Lionel Messi was up to a very good start creating some chances for his team mates and the had his biggest chance just after half time as he missed with only Neuer in front of him from about twelve meters distance.
Germany´s best chance was a header from Hoewedes after a corner kick that hit the post. The best players from the German team were Schweinsteiger and Boateng who fought with all their heart and won several tackles. Most of the match was intense but not world class and extra time was the logical consequence.
The team of Joachim Loew put up the pressure during the extra 30 minutes and Gotze´s dream goal secured their fourth title in World Cup history after 1954, 1974 and 1990. Manuel Neuer received the Golden Glove for the best keeper of the tournament and Lionel Messi was rewarded with the Golden Ball as best player.
