Germany only drawing

The German national team only drew against Ghana and will have to deliver in the last match of group stage against USA on Thursday to secure the ticket for the round of the last 16. At least one point will be necessary for Germany. Argentina and Belgium meanwhile already qualified for next round while Algeria surprised everybody by crushing South Korea.

Mats Hummels was the best player in a weak German defense.

Germany followed their very strong performance against Portugal in their first match of FIFA World Cup 2014 with a pretty weak match against Ghana. The physically strong Africans put everything they had against Germany and were the overall more dangerous team. Ghana turned the match around after Goetze´s lead just after the break before Miro Klose equalized the score with his very first touch marking his 15th goal in World Cup history, equaling with Ronaldo for his record. Joachim Loew´s team will need at least one point against USA on Thursday.

The US team played against Portugal and drew 2:2 in a very intense match. Until one minute before the end the USA had the ticket for the next round already secured but a late equalizer kept the very small hope of Portugal alive as they – same as Ghana – have one point with USA and Germany having four each. A draw in the match of USA and Germany would be enough for both.

Argentina meanwhile already secured their ticket for next round after defeating Iran pretty luckily thanks to a late Messi goal. The best chances to follow them has the Nigerian team after beating Bosnia that will have to travel home. Nigeria have four points while Iran have one.

Belgium also already qualified for next round after beating Russia with a late goal 1:0. The second match of the group saw Algeria surprisingly crush South Korea with 4:2 and making a big step towards next stage. Russia and South Korea stay at one point while Algeria have three already.
