Mario Gomez was the only scorer and hero of the day.

Both teams did not apply enough pressure to produce dangerous moment inside their opponents box. The offensive attempts were not passionate enough to give defensive players any hard time. Portugal´s Pepe got unlucky as his shot just before the break hit the underside of the bar but did not went in. Mario Gomez header was unsaveable and set the score board to the final 1-0.

Denmark surprisingly beat Holland and gave one of the biggest favorites a hard time to start with this EC. For Nederland it is going to be a fight for staying in this tournament when they face Germany on Wednesday in one of footballs most prestigious classics.

Spain and Italy drew 1-1 in what was most likely the best match of this EC so far. Di Natale scored the lead around minute 65 just moments after his substitution. More or less the next action was Cesc Fabregas´ equalizer.
