Germany with dream start

The German national team was off to a perfect start to the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil last night as they crushed Portugal 4:0. Thomas Mueller was the man of the match and scored three times against harmless Portuguese players. USA meanwhile won pretty luckily 2:1 against Ghana in the second match of group G. Between the two matches the game between Nigeria and Iran ended 0:0.

Joachim Loew´s German national team showed a strong performance in their first match of the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil as they crushed Portugal 4:0. The Germans dominated the play from the beginning and Thomas Mueller scored the 1:0 just eleven minutes in by a penalty kick after a foul against Goetze.

Mats Hummels increased the lead after around 30 minutes with a strong header after a corner kick by Kroos and just minutes later Pepe was sent off the pitch with a red card after attacking Mueller offside the ball. Thomas Mueller, who was up to become man of the match, increased the score further more within first half with his late 3:0 just before the break.

The game was decided already at half time but in second half once again Thomas Mueller scored the final 4:0 to seal the deal definitely. Next opponent for Germany will be Ghana on Saturday night 9 pm.

Meanwhile the USA, coached by Juergen Klinsmann, won their match with Ghana 2:1 but were pretty lucky to do so. Dempsey scored a very early lead just 33 seconds in but his team focused almost exclusively on defending after that which lead to Ghana becoming more and more the very dominant team. In late second half they equalized and had opportunities to turn things around, but just moments before the end USA´s Brooks scored the winning goal after a corner kick to secure the lucky win against a better playing opponent. Nigeria and Iran in the meantime met for the by far weakest match of the competition so far that ended 0:0.
