Gladbach droping to position five

The Bundesliga appears to be rather uneventful at the moment as FC Bayern are dominating the competition. For many the championship is already decided despite the early stage of the season. This weekend Bayern won 5:0 against Frankfurt underlining that thesis. BVB and Leverkusen also won their matches after a dry period for several games. Gladbach dropped in chart as they were beaten by Hanover and Schalke defeated Wolfsburg to surpass them. Hamburger SV meanwhile are tumbling deeper into relegation struggle as they lost 0:3 against Hoffenheim.


The question who will be Bundesliga champion 2014 has already been answered for many as FC Bayern seem to be unstoppable. The team of coach Pep Guardiola crushed Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend with 5:0, staying unbeaten for the 43rd game in a row underlining the assumption of being unbeatable at the moment.

The followers Dortmund and Leverkusen also won their games after a couple of struggling weeks as both had been waiting for a victory three or four matches. BVB beat Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday night in a close match with 2:1 and Leverkusen turned things around against VfB Stuttgart after being one behind also finishing 2:1.

Fourth placed Borussia Moenchengladbach had to play the night match on Saturday against Hanover 96. The team of newly signed coach Tayfun Korkut won against Gladbach with 3:1 to secure his second victory in his second game 96´s coach. FC Schalke surpasses Borussia in chart by winning 2:1 against VfL Wolfsburg after playing most of second half with eleven against ten after Caligiuri´s red card due to an alleged insult toward the referee Wolfgang Stark.

Northern traditional clubs losing

The times when SV Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV had been feared throughout the Bundesliga are long gone as both teams are used to relegation struggle by now. After a 0:3-loss against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Hamburger SV are now deep in the hole as they sit on a relegation position in chart now. With 16 points and position 17 things do not look pretty for Bert van Marweijk´s team.

SV Werder Bremen only have four points more to their name as they lost 1:3 against FC Augsburg this weekend despite being one goal in the lead early on. Bremen had to play with one man less for one half as Garcia was sent off the pitch just before the break.

Meanwhile 1. FSV Mainz 05 won 2:0 against SC Freiburg with new-arrival Ja-Cheol Koo scoring the winning goal after his transfer in winter that made him the most expensive player of Mainz´s club history. The first match on Sunday saw 1. FC Nuremberg defeating Hertha BSC Berlin with 3:1 to surpass HSV and Freiburg in chart leaving the danger zone in chart for now.
