Gladbach receiving Leverkusen
Matchday 20 will see two teams of the upper third in chart go head-to-head. Borussia Moenchengladbach on position five will receive Bayer 04 Leverkusen on second place on Friday night. Meanwhile Dortmund and Bayern will travel to Bremen and Nuremberg for their points while the night match will take place between Hamburger SV and Hertha BSC Berlin. The game between FC Schalke 04 and Hanover 96 on Sunday night will round up matchday 20.
Despite the champion question seemingly already answered as FC Bayern Munich have left the competition behind the race for the following places in chart is full of high tension. All teams are close together and this weekend two direct competitors will meet on Friday night when Borussia Moenchengladbach will receive Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The team of Lucien Favre has the worst start to a second leg since 2006 with losing both matches and a 1:5 goal difference. Leverkusen had also been struggling lately might have gained new confidence after beating Stuttgart last week.
A lack of confidence should not be the problem in Nuremberg neither as the Club won the first two matches 2014. Next opponent however will be the all-dominating FC Bayern Munich on Saturday. Borussia Dortmund will have to compete with SV Werder Bremen. The Northern Club just like Hamburger SV is deep in relegation struggle and will need every point they can get. The HSV currently on 17th place in chart will fight for them against Hertha BSC Berlin in the Saturday night match.
Wolfsburg against Mainz
Another match between two direct rivals will be taking place between VfL Wolfsburg and 1. FSV Mainz 05. The VfL, sponsored by Volkswagen, is widely considered as a competitor for the upper four ranks staying a bit behind the expectations as they have not won in three matches, sitting on rank six in chart. Mainz on the other hand are playing way above the expectation competing for Europa League places in chart, currently with 30 points on position seven.
Two games on Sunday will be headlined by relegation struggle when Eintracht Frankfurt will meet Eintracht Braunschweig and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim will be a guest in Freiburg. The first match on Sunday will be between VfB Stuttgart and FC Augsburg.
