Hamburg losing in Braunschweig, new coach Slomka
Hamburger SV hit bottom on matchday 21 as they have lost their seventh league match in a row, this time against recently promoted and currently lastplaced Eintracht Braunschweig. Coach van Marweijk was immediately fired afterwards and Mirko Slomka will be in charge beginning on Monday. Dortmund and Bayern meanwhile easily won their matches against Frankfurt and Freiburg while Schalke beat Leverkusen in this week´s headliner.
It was the low point of a devastating series of losses for Hamburger SV when the traditional German football club lost 2:4 against Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday. Braunschweig are currently on last position in chart, had never scored more than two goals or turned a game around so far this season, before HSV came to visit on matchday 21. Two incredible blunders of Rene Adler and a poor performance that seeks it´s kind vainly sealed the doom of HSV coach Bert van Marweijk, who was fired just hours after the loss. From Monday on Mirko Sloma, who was fired in Hanover in winter, will be in charge in Hamburg.
Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich meanwhile seemingly easy beat their opponents. BVB won 4:0 against Eintracht Frankfurt, the team they had their fair share of problems with under the week in DFB Pokal while Munich blew SC Freiburg away also with 4:0. Schalke 04 won the headliner against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Saturday night. In a strong match with both teams fighting for the victory Schalke was the more effective team an earned the win overall. The position two to four in chart are only separated by one and two points now as Schalke are approaching BVB and Leverkusen.
Bremen with last-minute strike
SV Werder Bremen saved one point in the match with Borussia Mönchengladbach as new-arrival Ludovic Obraniak equalized just seconds before the end with a strong direct free kick for the 1:1 final result. Gladbach therefore were surpassed by VfL Wolfsburg as the club from Lower-Saxony beat Hertha BSC Berlin on Sunday.
More games saw VfB Stuttgart taking a devastating blow in relegation struggle by losing 1:4 against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and dropping to position 15 in chart. 1. FC Nuremberg on the other hand beat FC Augsburg with 1:0 to put some distance between them and relegation places in chart. 1. FSV Mainz beat Hanover 96 on Friday night already.
