Hamburg losing North Derby
Hamburger SV were unable to continue the strong performance from last week and lost the prestigious North Derby against Werder Bremen with 0:1. FC Bayern Munich meanwhile crushed FC Schalke 04 with 5:1 and in consequence of Bayer Leverkusen´s 0:1 loss against Mainz, Dortmund were able to regain second position by defeating Nuremberg with 3:0. VfB Stuttgart on the other hand lost 1:2 against Frankfurt putting them deeper in the hole as they have now lost eight matches in row.
The tension in German Bundesliga sure is in relegation struggle at the moment as Bayern are dominating the competition on the other end of the chart. Hamburger SV were on a good way last week as they surprisingly beat Borussia Dortmund with 3:0. They were unable to continue their performance as they lost 0:1 in the 100th edition of the North Derby against Werder Bremen. With 19 points HSV stay on position 16 in growing trouble.
FC Bayern meanwhile crushed FC Schalke 04 in the night match on Sunday. Arjen Robben scored three times in the process against a devastated Schalke that was 0:4 behind just 28 minutes into the game and had no answer whatsoever for FCB´s play. Bayer Leverkusen lost 0:1 against 1. FSV Mainz 05 enabling Borussia Dortmund to regain second position in chart by beating Nuremberg 3:0. VfL Wolfsburg also lost their game on Sunday in Hoffenheim with 2:6.
Frankfurt turning match around
The Sunday match between Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart saw Stuttgart taking the lead but as they did several times this season losing in the end anyway. Two late goals by Rosenthal and Meier turned things around for Eintracht kicking VfB deeper in the hole as it was the eight loss in a row for coach Schneider´s team. Eintracht Braunschweig and SC Freiburg meanwhile both managed to draw their matches with Borussia Moenchengladbach and Hertha BSC Berlin.
