HSV crushing Dortmund, Bayern seemingly easy
Borussia Dortmund most certainly lost every chance of defending their title in Bundesliga. BVB got crushed against Hamburg on matchday 21 with 1-4 while Bayern easily beat Schalke with 4-0. The gap between the two clubs is now at 15 points. Dortmund stayed on second place however as Leverkusen and Frankfurt only drew in Gladbach and against Nuremberg.
Borussia Dortmund can bury their ambitions of defending their title this year after losing 1-4 against Hamburger SV on matchday 21 while FC Bayern crushed Schalke 04 with 4-0 increasing the gap between position one and two to 15 points.
In what was a very strong Bundesliga match Dortmund got off to a better start with Robert Lewandowski (17th minute) scoring the early lead for BVB. HSV´s Rudnevs (18th) almost instantly reset the score and Son (26th) even put HSV in the lead just moment later. After half an hour Dortmund´s striker Lewandowski was sent off the pitch after a rude attack.
After the break HSV´s Bruma also received a red card but Hamburg anyhow increased their lead in person of Rudnevs (62th). Dortmund more or less desperate attempts did not lead to anything and HSV were even able to put the finishing touch on their strong performance by Son (87.) with the 4-1. Hamburg are on position five after this surprising victory.
Dortmund staying second
Dortmund despite losing the match stay on position second in chart as the competitors in the struggle for the places enabling the teams to play in Champions League were unable to benefit. Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt both only drew in the matches with Borussia Moenchengladbach and 1. FC Nuremberg.
More results on matchday 21 were the 4-1-victory of Werder Bremen in Stuttgart, the 1-0-home game win of Hanover 96 over TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, the 0-1-loss of Greuther Fuerth against VFL Wolfsburg, the 1-1-draw of FC Augsburg and Mainz 05 as well as the 1-0-vicory of SC Freiburg against Fortuna Duesseldorf.
