HSV end Dortmund´s run, next matchday only two days ahead
Hamburg have defeated the current German champion Dortmund and secured the very first points this season. After a strong performance of HSV the game ended 3-2 while FC Bayern´s 2-0 victory over Schalke 04 was never really in danger. The Bundesliga will be back on Tuesday and Wednesday already.
Hamburger SV was one of two teams without a point before matchday four started and the opponent to beat was Borussia Dortmund. The current German champion was unbeaten in 31 league games straight and HSV´s campaign started off as bad as the last one ended.
Hamburg played much better than the last couple of weeks and Son scored the early lead just two minutes into the game. BVB on the other hand had a pretty bad day and were unable to find a working strategy against compact defending HSV players.
Ivan Perisic´s cross slipped over his foot and landed inside just seconds into second half, but HSV shot themselves back into the lead as Ilicevic (55th minute) and Son (59th) scored. Again Perisic got one back one minute after the 3-1 but a strong performance of HSV keeper Adler secured the first win for Thorsten Fink´s team this season.
With the HSV victory Dortmund´s run with 31 games unbeaten ended just four games away from equalizing the HSV record from 1983 where Hamburg had not lost for 36 games in a row. Next opponent on Tuesday for Dortmund will be Frankfurt. The promoted Eintracht have won four out of four so far and are on position two in chart. They defeated Nuremberg on Friday night with 2-1 which had put them in the lead in chart until Saturday. HSV´s next opponent will be Borussia Moenchengladbach.
FC Bayern Munich played a solid game against Schalke 04 on Saturday and Kroos (55th) and Mueller (58th) scored to secure the 2-0 victory that was never really in danger. The next task for FC Bayern will be winning against VFL Wolfsburg on Tuesday night. Their match against Greuther Fuerth ended 1-1 this weekend.
Gladbach´s encounter with Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday afternoon ended 1-1 after two early goals and a strong performance of Gladbach´s keeper ter Stegen. Leverkusen´s Schürrle missed a penalty about twenty minutes before the end of the match. Bayer will head for Augsburg on Wednesday the only team except VFB Stuttgart that has not won so far this campaign.
Augsburg lost 0-2 against Mainz 05 and VFB drew against Werder Bremen on late Sunday. Bremen were leading 2-0 but Stuttgart came back into the match equalizing the score. Mainz next opponent will be Schalke on Tuesday while Stuttgart will play against Hoffenheim and Bremen in Freiburg both on Wednesday.
Promoted Fortuna Duesseldorf stays unbeaten and without receiving a goal so far after a goalless draw against SC Freiburg on Saturday and TSG Hoffenheim were able to secure their first win as well as their first points this season against Hanover 96 on late Sunday. Markus Babbel´s team won 3-1 after being one behind. Hanover´s next opponent will be 1. FC Nuremberg on Wednesday.
