HSV leaving relegation positions, Schalke on three

Matchday 25 saw the tension rising furthermore in relegations struggle and the race for Europe as FC Bayern Munich´s dominance continues. After the 2:1-victory against Leverkusen FCB might even be crowned champion next week already. Dortmund also lost 1:2 which lead to FC Schalke getting closer to BVB and surpassing Leverkusen on third. Hamburger SV meanwhile beat Nuremberg to position 16 for now but Stuttgart and Freiburg being right behind them.


Hakan Calhanoglu was one of the best players on the pitch in Hamburg this weekend and scored the leading goal.

If Bundesliga would be only about who will be first there probably would not be many people watching at the moment. FC Bayern won in Leverkusen on Saturday with 2:1 staying unbeaten in the 50th match in a row. In cause of Dortmund´s parallel loss against Borussia Moenchengladbach Bayern will be able to secure the championship next week already if the followers play accordingly.

Third place is no more Bayer´s as FC Schalke beat FC Augsburg with 2:1 on Friday night to surpass the Factory squad and getting closer to BVB on second. The race for the Champions League is getting more intense every week with now even Mainz 05 catching up with Bayer sitting only four points shy of Leverkusen on fifth place after beating TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in a crazy match. The score at half time was 0:0 but TSG were in the lead by two just 15 minutes into second half before Mainz turned things around and won 4:2 in the end.

Hamburg gaining big points

The relegation struggle also is really intense at the moment as most competitors of the lower chart positions encounter each other heads-up. On Saturday Werder Bremen and VfB Stuttgart drew 1:1 in what was the first match of Huub Stevens as new head coach in Stuttgart. On Sunday Hamburger SV showed a very strong performance against 1. FC Nuremberg and won 2:1 in the end to surpass to place 14. The night match however saw SC Freiburg beating Eintracht Frankfurt with 3:1 so that they followed HSV and put Stuttgart on position 17 for the moment. Only two points separate place 14 and 17 at the moment and VfB and HSV will encounter next week.

More games on Saturday saw Hertha BSC Berlin losing 0:3 against Hanover 96 and Eintracht Braunschweig putting in a big fight to secure a 1:1 draw against VfL Wolfsburg. Braunschweig have only four points disadvantage to position 15 and should not be counted out as well just yet.
