Last matchday ahead
Bundesliga season 2013/2014 is coming to a close with its final matchday lying ahead. While several questions already have been answered some outcomes are still to be decided over. Relegation struggle has three teams all just separated by one point each and the run for the international ranks harbors some tension also.
Last matchday of German Bundesliga season 2013/2014 is lying ahead. FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund can use the matches with VfB Stuttgart and Hertha BSC Berlin as final test before they encounter each other in DFB Pokal final next Saturday. Position one and two for them in Bundesliga are already safe. The two opponents Berlin and Stuttgart also cannot change anything important anymore about their situation chart. Hanover 96 and SC Freiburg are already saved from relegation and their match will be rather meaningless to both.
The true tension in matchday 34 certainly will be in relegation struggle. The last three teams are only separated by one point each and for all of the three teams, HSV, Nuremberg and Braunschweig, still everything is possible if the results of the other two work for them. HSV could safe their position 16 and therefor head for relegation matches by defeating Mainz. If they draw, Braunschweig is almost certainly relegated due to a better goal difference of HSV. Mainz on the other hand need the points to keep Augsburg away from their seventh place as FCA face Frankfurt and are only one point behind Mainz.
1. FC Nuremberg will face FC Schalke 04. Nuremberg would need three points to surpass HSV as they have the worst goal difference of all the teams down there. Schalke on the other hand want to keep Leverkusen away from their third place. Braunschweig´s opponent Hoffenheim have nothing to win or lose while Eintracht will need three points and at least a losing HSV and a drawing Nuremberg to finish on position 16.
Leverkusen and Wolfsburg will fight for position four as Bayer will meet SV Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg will play against Borussia Moenchengladbach. While Bremen´s ambitions in chart are not really there Gladbach still have possibilities to finish third if they beat VfL and Bayer lose against Bremen. Leverkusen on the other hand could even finish third by defeating Bremen while Schalke lose against Nuremberg.
