Leverkusen dropping down in chart

Bayer 04 Leverkusen continue to struggle in Bundesliga as they lost 1:2 against Hamburg on Friday. They dropped down to position five and coach Hyypiä was fired on Saturday. HSV on the other hand desperately needed the points in relegation struggle as Braunschweig and Stuttgart also won. FC Bayern meanwhile showed that they are still able to lose as Augsburg beat them 1:0 while Borussia Dortmund won 2:1 against Wolfsburg to underline their second place in chart as Schalke only drew against Bremen.

Sami Hyypiä was fired in Leverkusen on Saturday after a horrible second leg of the season for Bayer.

Both teams had to win on Friday night: Hamburger SV are deep down in relegation struggle and need every single point to avoid the historic first relegation of the only club who played every single Bundesliga season from the beginning on. Leverkusen on the other hand only won one match out of the last eleven. In the end HSV won 2:1 thanks to a very passionate performance and a late goal by Heiko Westermann leading to Leverkusen firing coach Sami Hyypiä after dropping down to fifth position in chart.

HSV used the points to climb one up in chart while the relegation struggle gets even more intense as Stuttgart beat Freiburg 2:0 and Eintracht Braunschweig beat Hanover 96 in the Lower-Saxony derby on Sunday with 3:0. After Nuremberg 0:2-loss against Borussia Moenchenglabdach the chart situation reads as follows: Braunschweig are still on last place with 25 points, Nuremberg one better with 26, HSV and Stuttgart follow with 27 points and Hanover on 14th place being right back in the fight with only 29 points.

FC Bayern Munich still beatable

Meanwhile FC Bayern Munich showed that they could still lose in Bundesliga. For the first time since the end of 2012 they lost a league match as Augsburg beat them 1:0. Bayern started with several changes in the starting eleven and some unknown young players but the team was still more than able to compete as Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Pizaro, Martinez, Mandzukic, Shaquiri and Pizarro were part of it.

Borussia Dortmund used FC Schalke´s draw in Bremen to underline their second place by turning the match around against VfL Wolfsburg and winning 2:1. More games of the weekend saw Eintracht Frankfurt beating Mainz 05 with 2:0 and therefore most certainly leaving the danger zone for good. On late Sunday Hertha BSC Berlin and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim drew 1:1.
