Leverkusen to strike first
After one week of Bundesliga abstinence due to World Cup qualifiers Germany´s first football league is back for more. Bayer 04 Leverkusen will have the chance to surpass rivals Dortmund and Bayern at least for one day as they meet their opponent Hoffenheim on Friday night already. BVB and FCB will follow on Saturday against Hanover and Mainz.
With their match on Friday night Bayer 04 Leverkusen will have the chance to surpass their rivals Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich in chart – at least for one day. They will have to beat TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to do so. With 19 points Leverkusen are right behind Dortmund (also 19) and Bayern (20). Fourth placed Gladbach are lagging rather far behind on 13 points so far.
FC Bayer Munich will face Mainz 05 on Saturday afternoon. FCB had to accept their second draw this season last matchday and Mainz are in the middle of a minor crisis as they started perfectly with three victories but failed to up the ante afterwards with four losses and on draw.
Borussia Dortmund were on first place in chart since second matchday but had to let FC Bayern surpass last matchday as they lost their game against Borussia Moenchengladbach despite being the far better team. BVB will be looking to get back on track against Hanover in Signal-Iduna-Park. 96 are not known for strong performances on foreign grounds.
Gladbach and Hertha in night match
The Saturday night match will take place between Hertha BSC Berlin and Borussia Moenchengladbach. It will be the meeting of fourth and sixth in chart. Berlin are right on track with 12 points as a recently promoted team while Gladbach might be spurred by the lucky victory against Dortmund two weeks ago.
The other matches on Saturday will take place between SV Werder Bremen and SC Freiburg, Eintracht Braunschweig and FC Schalke 04 as well as Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FC Nuremberg before the Sunday matches of Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart plus FC Augsburg and VfL Wolfsburg round up matchday nine.
