Next North Derby for HSV
Matchday 14 of German Bundesliga will see Hamburger SV go for the next North Derby after beating Hanover last week. This weekend the opponent will be VfL Wolfsburg and the game will take place on Friday night already. FC Bayern Munich will face Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday while Borussia Dortmund will be a guest in Mainz and Bayer 04 Leverkusen encounter 1. FC Nuremberg. The night match will be between FC Schalke 04 and VfB Stuttgart.
After two defeats in a row Hamburger SV turned things around last week in the North Derby with Hanover 96 after being one behind and won 3:1. This weekend on matchday 14 the next Northern duel will take place as HSV will meet VfL Wolfsburg. VfL had a couple of strong weeks and are sitting on fifth position in chart while Hamburg are on place eleven.
FC Bayern Munich after setting a new record in UEFA Champions League under the week with their tenth consecutive win will have the chance to work on their Bundesliga record in the home game against Eintracht Braunschweig. If they will stay unbeaten it would be the 39th game in a row where they do so. For Bayer 04 Leverkusen on the other hand their match with 1. FC Nuremberg will be about regaining confidence after their painful 0:5 loss under the week against Manchester United.
Klopp back in Mainz
The matches in Mainz are always special ones for Borussia Dortmund´s coach Juergen Klopp. The BVB will be able to use new-signed Manuel Friedrich, who was not allowed to play in Champions League under the week where BVB regained hope for surviving group stage. Sven Bender who broke his nose at the 3:1 victory against Napoli will also be able to play.
Further games on Saturday will take place between TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and SV Werder Bremen as well as between Hertha BSC Berlin and FC Augsburg before FC Schalke 04 and VfB Stuttgart will go head to head in this week´s Saturday night match. Schalke only drew against Frankfurt last week despite being 2:0 in the lead and did not really put on a convincing performance in CL as they only drew against Bukarest. Stuttgart played an up and down season so far and are currently sitting on ninth place.
On Sunday afternoon Hanover 96 and Eintracht Frankfurt will meet with both teams being only points away from relegation zone in chart staying way under their capabilities in this campaign so far. The last game of matchday 14 will see fourth placed Borussia Moenchengladbach trying to keep up the pressure on Dortmund by winning against SC Freiburg.
