Night match for new HSV coach
After a very weak start to the season for Hamburger SV the management fired coach Thorsten Fink about two weeks ago. Now the new head coach Bert van Marwijk is supposed to turn things around for HSV. On Saturday his team will meet Eintracht Frankfurt in the night match. Dortmund and Bayern will play against Freiburg and Wolfsburg respectively in the afternoon.
The first couple of weeks in Bundesliga season 2013/2014 were quite desolate for Hamburger SV. About two weeks ago manager Kreutzer fired former coach Fink and now the new man in charge, Bert van Marwijk, was presented under the week. The Dutchman is supposed to lead the team out of the crisis. This weekend his first opponent will be Eintracht Frankfurt in the night match.
Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich will meet their opponents in the afternoon. While Dortmund will face SC Freiburg, a team they have won the last six against, FCB will clash with VFL Wolfsburg. The team of Pep Guardiola has never lost against VFL with 18 victories in 19 matches.
Leverkusen against Hanover
Hanover 96 were kicked out of the DFB Pokal under the week by FC Bayern while Leverkusen moved on to the next round. In league play the things run a bit better for Hanover as they sit on position four with 12 points right behind Leverkusen. The Factory squad have 15 points so far, just one shy of the two top teams.
FC Schalke 04 will meet an opponent they have never beat on their home turf, three draws in five tries is the record so far. S04 seems to have a problem when it comes to their defense heading into the match with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. 13 goals against at this point of the campaign is the worst result in 20 years. Last week they lost 0:4 against FC Bayern Munich.
The last match of Saturday will see Hertha BSC Berlin and Mainz 05 go at it. Both teams had a strong start to the season but struggled lately in league and DFB Pokal. Both were kicked out under the week against second league teams. FC Augsburg and Borussia Moenchengladbach meanwhile encounter on Friday night already. The Sunday matches will take place between Werder Bremen and 1. FC Nuremberg as well as between Eintracht Braunschweig and VFB Stuttgart.
