No surprises in DFB Pokal second round
As much as first round of German cup DFB Pokal had been full of surprises its second round lacked of them. Almost every top dog heading into the matches made it through to the round of 16. Only one team of first Bundesliga was kicked out - an inevitable consequence when two first league teams meet.
First round of German cup DFB Pokal had been full of surprises as one third of first league checked out before the season even started. The second matchday pretty much lacked of those surprising results as almost every top dog managed to get to the round of 16.
Only on team from first Bundesliga was kicked out, but that was no surprise as two first league clubs met. Borussia Moenchengladbach lost the match against Fortuna Duesseldorf with 0-1 after extra time.
FC Schalke 04, Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern Munich all mastered their tasks rather easily winning 3-0, 4-1 and 4-0. Hanover and Leverkusen struggled by winning on penalties and after extra time. The only small surprises where the defeats of MSV Duisburg and Union Berlin by Karlsruhe SC and Kickers Offenbach.
