„Nordderby“ in Bundesliga

On matchday 22 Hamburger SV will face Werder Bremen. The classic “Nordderby” is what most football fans in northern Germany are looking forward to most of the year. In the meanwhile the leading pack will play opponents considered to be not strong.

Hamburger SV will encounter Werder Bremen. It is the thing for the football fans in northern Germany. You only get more rivalry when it comes to Dortmund and Schalke. Hamburg only lost one of the twelve matches with Thorsten Fink as new headcoach.

Position 10 in chart is this campaigns best positioning for Hamburg. They gained seven points out of the last three matches. Bremen was unable to achieve more than a draw in 2012 so far. Topscorer Claudio Pizarro is back in starting formation.

The leading four of Germany´s Bundesliga are going to play opponents they are supposed to beat. Dortmund will have to face Hertha BSC Berlin on their home turf. The promoted team has just fired coach Michael Skibbe after losing five in a row.

FC Bayern Munich is two points behind Dortmund on second place and is looking to put pressure on the leading team. They will have to face SC Freiburg on late Saturday. In this game they will have the opportunity to win for the 13th straight time against Freiburg. No team has ever done that to any other club in Bundesliga.

Borussia Moenchengladbach will play against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. FCK have won seven out of the last eight matches against Gladbach on home turf. No other team in Bundesliga is currently on a longer dry period than FCK. They have not won in eleven games. Gladbach crushed Schalke last week with an astonishing performance and is a favorite heading into the game.

Schalke 04 will face VFL Wolfsburg on Sunday. After the shameful loss last week S04 is looking to get back on track and stay in touch with the leading three by defeating Wolfsburg.

More games on Saturday will be: 1. FC Nuremberg against 1. FC Cologne, Bayer 04 Leverkusen against FC Augsburg and on Friday night Hoffenheim will encounter Mainz 05. New coach of Hoffenheim Markus Babbel announced a victory for his debut on home grounds.

On Sunday night the match between Hanover 96 and VFB Stuttgart rounds up this weekend. Hanover won the Europe-League match under the week against Bruegge and is highly motivated as Stuttgart travels to the capital of Lower-Saxony.
