Hamburger SV are threatend by the first relegation in their long Bundesliga history.

The Bundesliga is closing in on the finish line and the last three teams are in deep trouble after Stuttgart winning last week against Schalke. The last three teams, Braunschweig, Nuremberg and HSV, all separated by one point each, all lost their matches enabling Stuttgart to bring four points between them and the danger zone.

Lastplaced Braunschweig lost 0:2 against FC Bayern Munich and will face Hertha BSC Berlin on Saturday. 1. FC Nuremberg were crushed with 4:1 by Bayer 04 Leverkusen and will play against 1. FSV Mainz 05 this weekend. Hamburger SV got defeated by Wolfsburg 1:3 and their opponent this weekend will be FC Augsburg. All three teams will now have to fight for position 15 as that might be the maximum they can achieve.

Bremen almost saved

Meanwhile Werder Bremen almost certainly secured their continuance in first league by beating Hoffenheim 3:1 and putting nine points between them and HSV. This weekend they will face FC Bayern, but no matter what, if HSV do not win on Sunday Bremen will be officially saved. SC Freiburg also made a giant leap towards avoiding relegation as they beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 4:2 and have 35 points now, which equals eight points advantage to HSV heading into their match with Wolfsburg on Saturday. Eintracht Frankfurt and Hanover 96, meeting in a direct duel last week that ended 3:2 for 96, both are almost saved also as they have 35 points before their matches with Hoffenheim and Stuttgart.

This weekend´s headliner will take place on Saturday night between Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund. BVB would be safe as second place finisher after winning while Leverkusen need the points to keep Wolfsburg away one point behind them on fifth place and stay in touch with Schalke four points ahead of them on third. Schalke will face Gladbach on late Sunday.
