Race for third place, relegation struggle still to be decided

The decision for the championship of this campaign has fallen. But there is still tension when it comes to position 3 in chart and of course the relegation struggle. Hertha and Cologne have to fight it out over the last two games for position 16 with Cologne two points in the lead.

Otto Rehagel´s team is two points behind Cologne.

Borussia Dortmund is champion of Bundesliga season 2011/2012, Bayern will be second place, Stuttgart will play Europa-League next campaign, same as most likely Bayer Leverkusen and 1. FC Kaiserslautern will have to plan for second league. That said, there is still tension in Bundesliga.

The race for third place is still a close one with Gladbach being only two points shy of Schalke 04. Schalke will face Hertha BSC Berlin this weekend, a team with the back to the wall. Otto Rehagel´s eleven desperately need points in order to fight relegation. Gladbach´s opponents FC Augsburg are not yet saved either, but with less pressure.

Hanover 96 and Bayer 04 Leverkusen have a true final for Europa-League. 96 can all but secure playing international next season by winning and Leverkusen only need one point to achieve their season goal.

Hanover is only hunted by Werder Bremen (three points less). Werder will play in Wolfsburg. VFL cannot lose or win anything this season anymore. Same for Hoffenheim and Nuremberg who will encounter.

The matches between already relegated Kaiserslautern and champion Dortmund as well as the game between Stuttgart and Bayern are pretty much irrelevant. Hamburger SV can all but secure playing in League one next campaign again by getting at least one point against already saved Mainz 05.

1. FC Cologne will have to play against also already saved SC Freiburg. Cologne´s lead towards position 17 and Hertha BSC Berlin is only two points with two games to go. A very intense relegation struggle for the last two matches lays ahead.
