Schalke defeating BVB, Bayern with new record

Schalke 04 have won the prestigious “Revierderby” against nemesis Borussia Dortmund. S04 managed to keep BVB five points away by winning in Signal-Iduna-Park. FC Bayern meanwhile crushed Duesseldorf with 5-0 winning eight out of eight so far setting a new all time record in Bundesliga.

Schalke 04 have been waiting two years for a victory against nemesis Dortmund and on Saturday the wait was over. Thanks to goals of Affelay (14th minute) and Hoeger (48th) Schalke won 2-1 in Dortmund. The current German champion got one back by Lewandowski (55th) but was unable to score the equalizer. Schalke played much better in first half and was the more clever team in second earning this victory.

For Dortmund it was the first defeat on home ground in over a year. The point deficit between BVB and FC Bayern is twelve points now and Dortmund failed to gain confidence for the heavy encounter with Real Madrid in Champions League on Wednesday. Schalke will meet Arsenal in London at the same time.

Bayern crushing Duesseldorf

FC Bayern seriously crushed promoted Fortuna Duesseldorf leaving no doubt whatsoever who was in charge. Mario Mandzukic (28th), Luiz Gustavo (36th), twice Thomas Mueller (55th, 86th) and Rafinha (87th) scored the goals in a dominant 5-0 victory for FC Bayern. No team before ever managed to win the first eight matches of a season in Bundesliga. Bayern will meet LOSC Lille in Champions League on Tuesday.

Eintracht Frankfurt got back on track against Hanover 96. Two weeks after the first defeat this season promoted Eintracht defeated 96 with 3-1 staying in touch with leading FC Bayern. Frankfurt have 19 points out of 24 possible.

Highly entertaining draws

Bayer 04 Leverkusen drew in a match worth seen against Mainz 05 with 2-2. Kießling (43th) had scored the lead for the factory squad but Szalai (58th) and Risse (76th) turned things around for Mainz. Gonzalo Castro (87th) equalized only minutes before the end.

The most crazy game this matchday took place on Friday night. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and Greuther Fuerth played 3-3 after Hoffenheim being in the lead three times and Fuerth getting one back every time. The scoreboard showed 2-1 in minute 84 but a hectic finish of the game saw three goals and Fuerth celebrating the one point in last minute not unlike a victory.

Wolfsburg struggling furthermore

Wolfsburg lost 0-2 against SC Freiburg and are in deep trouble now being on last position in chart with only five points. Werder Bremen crushed Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Saturday night match with 4-0 and the match between Augsburg and Nuremberg ended in a goalless draw on Sunday.

Hamburger SV failed to continue the run of the last weeks in the Sunday night match and lost 0-1 against VFB Stuttgart. Stuttgart played more aggressively especially in first half and earned the win over all as HSV´s attempts were all in all way too harmless. HSV are on position ten now, VFB two places behind them.
