Schneider fired, Stevens coming

VfB Stuttgart´s coach Thomas Schneider was fired during matchday 24 after a 2:2 draw against lastplaced Eintracht Braunschweig following an eight games losing-streak. HSV and Frankfurt meanwhile drew, rising the tension in relegation struggle furthermore. FC Bayern Munich won this weekend´s headliner against VfL Wolfsburg 6:1 despite being one behind and Dortmund


Thomas Schneider was fired in Stuttgart on Sunday after only one point out of the last nine matches.

Matchday 24 saw VfB Stuttgart failing to turn things around after eight losses in a row and the club officials firing head coach Thomas Schneider after drawing 2:2 against lastplaced Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday. New coach starting on Monday will be Huub Stevens. Hamburger SV and Eintracht Frankfurt drew 1:1 in the parallel match keeping the tension high in relegations struggle. Both HSV and VfB have 20 points at the moment with Hamburg on position 15 and Stuttgart one better.

Meanwhile FC Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg met in this weekend´s headliner and the VfL started very strong and aggressive leading to their well-earned 1:0 lead. FCB equalized in first half and dominated the second as the intense play from first half lead to Wolfsburg´s condition dropping and FC Bayern scored five goals within 17 minutes to win 6:1.

Dortmund defends second place

Borussia Dortmund meanwhile defended their second position in chart by defeating SC Freiburg with 1:0 on Sunday afternoon. They increased their lead towards third place because Bayer 04 Leverkusen had only drew 1:1 in their match with Hanover 96 on Saturday which overall could be considered lucky as 96 had more of the game and the better opportunities within the last minutes of the game. FC Schalke 04 crushed TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with 4:0 to catch up with Bayer. Both have 44 points on positions three and four in chart with Wolfsburg on fifth sitting on 39 points.

FC Augsburg continued their very good run this season by winning 2:1 against Borussia Moenchengladbach despite being one behind in first half. Currently the team of coach Markus Weinzierl is on position six, which would enable them to play Europa League next year. Werder Bremen and 1. FC Nuremberg met in the Saturday night match and Bremen used their few chances to win 2:0 leading to them having 28 points now. The last match of the weekend saw Hertha BSC Berlin and Mainz 05 drew 1:1.
