Number one and two in German Bundesliga will face their opponents this weekend on Sunday. Current champion Borussia Dortmund will encounter 1. FC Kaiserslautern right before record title holder FC Bayern Munich will play against VFB Stuttgart.

VFB Stuttgart will have to face Munich on Sunday.

Borussia Dortmund hope to surpass FC Bayern on matchday 16 in Bundesliga after being outpaced by Germany´s record title holder last week. Therefore Munich have to not win the match against VFB Stuttgart on late Sunday and BVB has to win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on Sunday afternoon.

The “Suedderby” between Stuttgart and Munich is quiet the uneven matchup if you look at the statistics. Munich won 51 of 88 encounters and only lost 17 of them. Stuttgart only won one out of the last six matches.

Borussia Dortmund however is unbeaten in nine straight games – the longest streak at the moment. After the disappointing knock out in Champions League BVB is looking to regain confidence in Bundesliga as they did after the past four CL-games (4-0, 5-0, 5-1, 2-0).

Last win of Kaiserslautern in Dortmund was eleven years ago and they are on a dry period at the moment. They have not won a match in five scoring only three points during those games.

Borussia Moenchengladbach might surpass one of the two leading teams if one of them fails. The most surprising team of this season – they avoided relegation in the last match of last season and are playing one of the best campaigns ever this year – will face promoted Augsburg, current number 18 in chart.

On Saturday afternoon there will also be a “Nordderby” between Wolfsburg and Bremen. VFL only lost one out of the last five games against Werder. But the two teams are currently separated by nine points as Bremen is fifth place in chart compared to Wolfsburg´s 13th place.

Hamburger SV will try to continue their good run over the last weeks and go on ascending in chart. But their opponent Mainz 05 is on the uptick as well as they are unbeaten in three for the first time this campaign.

More games on Saturday will be 1. FC Nuremberg against TSG Hoffenheim, 1. FC Cologne against SC Freiburg and Hanover 96 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

On Friday night Hertha BSC Berlin will encounter Schalke 04. Berlin is on a four game dry period for the first time this season and is looking to end it on home turf. Schalke however will not be the easiest task.
